It is a preventative way of lessening noise complaints that some properties do experience with having an ice machines on a guest floor. Also, yes we do only have one ice machine, and it is located in the basement, since we are a smaller property, that area is the most ideal and this is more common with hotels than not. For our hotel, although we do not have mini fridges automatically placed in the rooms, we do have them to offer, complimentary by request. Our property is currently undergoing the beginning steps towards correcting many of its issues, including providing new safety deposit boxes in guest rooms among other items of importance. You are correct, we do not have a bar in the hotel, since we are located in the midtown area, we do offer recommendations for many local bars and rooftop lounges to choose from, within walking distance. We’ve been trying to get fair compensation/refund for this huge inconvenience and for the unexpected costs we had to incur, but we haven’t been successful. Please save yourself from having a horrible time and don’t stay here. This location is not like other Marriotts. We’ve stayed at Marriotts for many years now and they’ve always treated us well and taken care of us. We got horrible sleep and our only full day in NYC was ruined. By the time we were at the new hotel, it was 3am. We had no choice but to pay almost double to stay at another Marriott location. Their best “solution” was for us to book a night at the last minute at another Marriott property. We were already experiencing a big inconvenience so we expected the situation to be handled professionally and quickly. I thought we’d be transferred to another Marriott in the area without a problem. In fact, no one at the off-site office was phased by the bed bugs or even sympathetic. We were transferred back and forth from that office and the hotel’s front desk several times. They didn’t have any rooms left at this hotel and patched us through to an off-site team. We killed the first bed bugs we saw and we immediately called the front desk to request another room. As we were getting ready to go to bed around midnight, we saw bed bugs in the sheets as well as disgusting stained sheets and mattress covers. Unfortunately, this ended up being the worst hotel experience of our lives. We were expecting to have a pleasant trip since we’ve stayed at Marriotts in the past and they’ve all been great experiences. My husband and I booked a stay for 2 nights in September 2023. Save yourself from a nightmare and do NOT stay at this hotel.
