Hyper x cloud1/22/2024 ![]() ![]() I wouldn’t really call the Cloud II’s design sleek. About 90% of the headphones are still clad in black and the only parts colored in red are the HyperX logos on the earcups, the steel frame, and the exposed stitches on the headband. I got the red variant of the Cloud II which only signifies red accents. However, they transformed into classic-looking, albeit a bit bulky, gaming headphones once I attached the microphone. In fact, they looked more like studio or travel headphones at first. The rounded closed-back earcups give them a more stylish look. The HyperX Cloud II are available in two colors: Red and Black.įirst things first, these headphones look a lot more compact than expected. These factors make the packaging feel rushed and cheap.įor its price, these headphones’ packaging isn’t too fancy. And, knowing that they used to come with a molded foam instead of a plastic casing just makes me confused with why HyperX made this packaging change.Īlso, the extra ear cups seem to be placed clumsily while the travel pouch and the sound card do not even have any slots. However, I’m not a fan of their decision to use plastic casing to hold the headphones and mic in place. This is because of the premium feel of the matte box and how organized the headphones and detachable mic look. The box is admittedly bulky but, personally, it made me feel like I was getting more at first glance. However, 6 years after their release, the question has to be asked: are they still as impressive as they were before? Can they still compete with the newly released headphones today? And, considering their built-in tech, are they still worth their price? Released in 2015, these popular headphones helped HyperX become the top-selling brand for gaming headphones from 2017-2018, and reach its milestone of 10 million headphones sold in 2019. It can be a decent surround sound feature, haptic feedback, low latency wireless connection, or simply some accessible controls.īut despite the new headphone models with these advanced features released in the market, one specific model remains standing - the HyperX Cloud II. Yet now, gamers have a choice to go for headphones with technologically advanced features. ![]() And that includes gaming headphone manufacturers.īefore, having a good enough sound was okay. With thousands of video games released every year, gaming companies are pushed to keep up with the fast-changing demands of the market. They're quick, and a bit unnaturally high pitched, but it makes them stand out so well.We bought the HyperX Cloud II for the purpose of this review. ![]() ![]() Instead, like I said in my original Cloud II review, they make footsteps sound more like people running around with dress shoes or high heels. They don't have that thump to them like devices with more bass such as the PC38X and the Astro A40. The Cloud III won't give you that, but it makes explosions and vehicle engines come through clean without lingering around too long.Ĭonsequently, footsteps are crisp in the Cloud III. The Cloud III’s low end trades away power from extra detail.Īs a basshead, when I listen to music I honestly prefer the subtle boom and rumble of the Cloud II when it's EQ'd. The biggest difference is the change in texture of the bass and sub-bass. The 1-3 KHz midrange is open and airy, just like the Cloud II, to give that sense of space. With the Cloud III, the treble is clear but not shrill. The Cloud II has overly sharp treble and while the lows aren’t muddy, they don’t really wow with the detail down there. Playing Modern Warfare II has been excellent with this headset. HyperX went hard optimizing the Cloud III’s tuning for performance in FPS games. ![]()
